Course structure

Overview

The Leading Enterprise Architecture Development programme is delivered primarily through a 2-day face-to-face workshop with access to some 24/7 e-learning resources.

You will examine the complexities of strategic EA in organisations and how to influence and lead a company by developing specific skills in the following areas.

Stage 1 - Strategy and EA

  • Identify the strategic decisions where EA can add value
  • Engage with the C-suite to connect strategy, digital design and EA
  • Understand the foundations of sustainable EA management aligning artifacts, processes, and organization
  • Learn how to “problem solve” in a context of (digital) strategy by structuring, analyzing, and synthesizing unfamiliar challenges

Stage 2 - Business capability maps

  • Understand the power and characteristics of good business capability maps to deliver strategy and customer experience
  • Use capability maps to build a bridge between business and IT
  • Learn the use cases of business capability maps to structure, communicate, and decide on EA topics
  • Effectively communicate with C-suite by assessing your audience, synthesizing & story lining, page & chart creation

Stage 3 - Modern architecture and agile roadmaps

  • Understand the challenges of managing the evolution of legacy application estates in an increasingly digital world
  • Create a modern architecture that provides organization ambidexterity
  • Prioritize portfolio roadmaps by considering the tradeoffs between “must do”, strategic, and economic investments
  • Connect architects and agile teams to deliver target designs and roadmaps at speed

Stage 4 - EA governance setup

  • Put in place the metrics and governance to foster (digital) transformation success
  • Shape EA governance to find the right balance of accountability, centralization, team size, and positioning.
  • Create architectural principles which align with strategic goals and are supported by design and delivery principles
  • Build agile EA frameworks and evolve EA skills and tools to lead the above

Personal development

  • Over the course of the workshops, build a personal development plan to practically apply your acquired knowledge
  • Exchange with like-minded peers and develop ideas on how to approach individual challenges
  • Re-connect with participants after the course to reflect on learning progress and share experience
